Today was pretty easy. I have to read Enduring love in the next two days, which isn't easy because it's a 24 chapter book, but still. I went to visit Neil at work today on one of his last shifts at Pumpkin. He poured me a cup of milk, the little legend. Tomorrow is my first day at Modern, well induction day - but we have an IQ test and everything, i'm a little anxious :/
Anyway, work was pretty good and whilst calling people (as you tend to in a call centre) i was brainstorming some band names for our little group. I think 'Postcard Collectors' and 'Broken Spectrum Club' are top favourites. We shall see.

Blogging Novice

I'm still a bit of a blogging novice, and that's fine with me.
I'm guessing doing two in a day is not the norm, but hey ho; my day was that good.
Neil and I went on the aforementioned trip down to the embankment where we got some bacon baguettes and cups of tea from ''borrowed money''. Basically we were walking through town heading to the embankment with our guitars (uke and acoustic) and i spotted a £20 note floating around. It had looked as if the man in front had dropped it, but not entirely sure due to the windy conditions we treated ourselves - and so begun the day of borrowed money. We started writing our first song, sadly absent of Jay who was and probably still is too fucked from Reading to even find the train to get to us in Bedford. Another thing that is note worthy is that today Neil had his last pack of cigarettes, a tidy little pack of silk cut's. This blog entry, if for nothing else is to stand testament to Neil's final attempt to quit smoking - and i have no doubt in my little mind that he will :) We also had a lovely few games of pool in the Bear, which i intend and hope becomes a regular thing now, simply because Neil basically just taught me pool, and how to hold the cue properly etc. in addition to this i'd like to point out that we met a lovely little lass called 'Louise' and she played for a pool team. I almost beat her - it came down to the 8 ball. Saying that Neil did really well too, so fair play to her. When we saw her whip out her own cue (the only meaning detracted should be the obvious and correct) we both thought 'shit, she's going to hand our arses to us on a little plate'; but we did wonderfully. All in all, it's been a really, really nice day and as i've said it's something I'd like to make a fairly regular occurrence. Oh and this Neil guy? I'm really starting to like him.
Prune is coming round today. We're going to get this 'musical trio' idea rolling. Sam-Jay, Neil and I intend to pull together a little acoustic group and start performing, whether it be busking in town or playing at pubs - we just want to make some music (: Neil will be here shortly on the next bus from Sharnbrook with his Uke and effects - I got up early today (around 9am) and am buzzing like a bumble-bee, at the ready with my baby (Fender F-25 acoustic), several pics, 2 capos, and some orange juice. Even the sun is shining. Looks like this will be a good day (:

peace to all you peoples, have a lovely day also

Sunday 29 August 2010

Ok, so this is going to be a big one.
I won't start from the start, I'll work backwards.
Firstly, (or should i say lastly) I've found something that makes me sad: Whilst battling between my Roman Catholic roots and Evolutionist mind-frame; i've become saddened by the beauty of nature. Basically, the things that are all around us and the things that because of the cities we've built, as well as the industrialised and urbanised lives we lead - have become detached from mother nature. In doing so our days have found themselves devoid of any recognition OF nature's beauty; nature has become meaningless to most. We search for beauty in the media, through fashion, the perfect body size, weight, hair colour, accent and even skin colour. When what we are missing, the immovable point we somehow fail to observe is that nature is diverse and we are nature. I challenge you today to going outside, find a field, lay down and just look. Give it some time and soon you will realise how many creatures are living in the micro-system below. All of them a part of nature and a part of the interlaced, interwoven ecosystem that is planet earth. At some point or another we were all, for want of a better phrase 'in harmony'. Interdependent in our functions as complex organisms, and if the organism itself is not complex itself in it's genetic make up, or chemical composition than the source of it's creation will suffice for complexity. Ample to tease the brain. We have broken this web. We have lost this connection. In accordance with Einstein's theory of observation, (in rudimentary terms stating that without first observing we cannot discover) if we do not stop to appreciate what is surrounding us, then nature is wasted on us. If we do not bathe in the near incomprehensible, beauty of nature - stand in awe at it's unfathomable diversity and instead occupy ourselves by obsessing with false beauty then we're fucked, basically. Now, I'd like to move on. Ruth mahaffey, is a very sweet person indeed. She is lovely and is of course the reason my blog was christened 'Samandrutharesocool' or 'ruthandsamaresocool' (can't remember which). Recently Ruth came around for a 'cup' (:L) and gave me this cute little shot glass from New York City, America which i thought was just so awesome of her ^_^ thank you Ruthy! :)
Ok, ok still lots to say sadly - if you have come this far thank you. Bethan Winner. She's amazing. One of my very good friends James Clayton has her, and by gosh is he lucky. She's a lovely little turkey (no euphemisms there, just me being weird [me] ).
Yeah she worries too much, and says just what she thinks - but I like her for it, it's admirable and there's nothing she can't do, and no-one she cannot aspire to be, i want her to know that. Did I mention she's lovely?
Neil Pruden. I stayed round his house for the first time last night. I think, personally that he is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Now, I'm not just saying that because it's on my blog, because in fact he has inspired me to at least try and keep this blog thing up. And whilst whether he reads this or not is irrelevant I just want to note what a sound guy he is. He is someone who I met a while back now, and we both get distracted by tangents and then follow them like dusty paths into cool canyons of conversation, the conversation wherein flows like the aqua blue stream trickling down the valley wall to the East. We eventually stumble out of the valley back into the warm sunlight, our scales raised by the warm sun on our backs. Looking down we see our claw prints, light in the half old, half new sand, and we smile pleasantly realising that we are back where the conversation started, we were never lost - just not too interested in being found. We scuttle off to get lost once more.
